More places where you can advertise for free

If you want to go the extra mile to advertise your PTC programs there are a number of effective free methods you can use not covered elsewhere in this site.

1 - Safelists (E Mail Marketing)

It is an accepted fact amongst virtually all online marketers that e mail marketing is one of the most powerful methods of “getting your message out there”. By registering with a number of different safelists you are given the opportunity to e mail literally thousands of double opt in leads each week... and it won’t cost you a penny!

What is a Safelist?

In simple terms, a safelist is an e mail list made up of members who have given their permission to receive e mails from all of the other members in return for being able to send an e mail out to other members themselves. It is totally free to join a safelist, although you will find paid upgrade options available within each list offering a number of different benefits.

The size of each safelist varies. Some only have several hundred members, whereas others have thousands. Some allow you to send single messages only once a week, whereas others allow you to send several e mails every day.

When you register with a safelist you will be asked to provide two e mail addresses: a list address and a contact address.

Your list address is the one which will be literally bombarded with e mails from other users so it is absolutely crucial you have a totally separate address for this purpose. I advise you to use Google Mail as it is accepted by all of the safelists.

Your contact address will be used by the safelist admin team for sending occasional updates and messages. You can use your private e mail address here if you wish, but if you want to keep all of your online marketing activities separate, then I suggest you set up a second Google Mail account for your contact address also.

Whenever a member of a safelist clicks on a web link in another member’s e mail ad, they are awarded credits after viewing the ad for 20 seconds or so. The more credits they earn, the more people they can e mail. In addition to the thousands of regular e mail ads delivered every day, some members also pay to send out what are known as solo ads. These messages are delivered to the contact e mail addresses of each member and you earn many more credits when you click on them.

Every person who joins a safelist agrees to receive ad messages from the rest of the list, so you can rest assured that any promotional material you send via the safelist will not be returned as spam. There are however certain rules you need to follow and some genres of site such as adult and gambling related are not accepted.

Almost all of the safelists offer very attractive rewards - both in the form of cash and additional credits - when you introduce a new (active) referral to their program.

How many safelists should you join?

Because of the sheer volume of e mails received by safelist members each day, it’s an accepted fact that a high percentage of the ads you send will be deleted without ever being seen. To stand any sort of success many of the experts recommend you use at least 20 safelists on a regular basis.

If you are unsure of where to start looking for the best safelists to join a really excellent starting point is by registering at Traffic Hoopla. Every week the TH team publish lists of the top safelists as voted for by their users. It’s an impartial and really useful resource. What I also like about Traffic Hoopla is that you can join any of the safelists featured directly through their site, add your unique user name for each list in your private members area, then anyone else you refer to Traffic Hoopla and who joins one of the safelists automatically becomes one of your referrals. This can result in you earning literally thousands of additional credits as well as cash rewards.

My Top 7 Safelists

The following safelists have really struck the balance right in my opinion. They send out a handful of solo ads each day but not so many that members don’t need to surf through the free members’ ads too in order to earn credits. This means it’s a win win situation for both free members and those who want to invest in paid advertising.

If you would like more detailed instructions about how to get the most out of safelists, it is well worth visiting the site below, where you can download a free 35 page e book written by  experienced safelist marketer Jerry Iannucci. Jerry has been involved in internet marketing since the late 90s and the book gives you some interesting background information about safelist marketing as well as a series of invaluable tips to help you get the most out of your e mail marketing campaigns and step by step guides showing you how to set everything up.

2 - Viral Marketing Programs

There are a number of viral marketing programs out there, but all pretty much work in the same way. After a very simple registration process all you have to do to join is view 6 or 7 different websites one at a time from a list for 30 seconds or so. Once the viewing time is up, you simply copy a small piece of code and transfer it to the corresponding box on the registration page. Once you’ve viewed all of the sites, you add  the URL of which ever site you want to promote to the top of the list. As soon as you introduce someone into the program, and they’ve added their details your website goes down on to level 2, meaning it will be shown to all the people who sign up under your level 2 referrals as well as yourself. This process carries on down through several levels. The end result is that in a matter of only weeks your site could potentially be seen by thousands of real visitors if you get the message out there and market them well. Below I’ve included links to two of my favourite viral sites.

3 - Free Classified Ad Sites

Posting free classified ads is an excellent way of reaching a high number of people very quickly. Many of the sites allow you to target specific countries and areas within countries too in many cases. The most positive point about free classified sites is that you are almost guaranteed to reach the people who are seriously interested in reading every word about what you have to offer, because they have in effect searched for you as opposed to the other way around.

I have seen some great results through my free classified ad campaigns. You can track how many visitors have viewed you ad through most of the sites, and some will e mail you weekly updates summarizing the number of visitors who’ve looked at each ad you’ve placed.

It’s worth considering posting ads in more than one section of a site where possible to reach a wider audience and you’ll find that all of the sites below have a wide range of topics under which you can post free ads, so you’re almost certain to be able to find a category for your business or service.

For maximum effect, keep your ads short, punchy and informative - and post on as many free classified sites as you can each week. It’s also crucial to remember to renew your ads on a regular basis to constantly keep your ads at the front of the queue.
