UseTraffic Exchanges to advertise PTC sites free
When used correctly TEs can be an effective free way to advertise PTC sites. However if you use them in the wrong way TEs can be a complete drain on your time, your energy and your mouse button!.
On this page, I am going to give you some advice about the right way to use TEs, so you don’t end up missing the excellent marketing opportunity they do in fact offer.
What is a Traffic Exchange?
For those of you who are not already aware, here is a brief explanation of what a Traffic Exchange is.
The concept behind TEs is simple, ie: “You view my site and I’ll view yours”
After a very simple registration process, you log into your account and surf for credits for a set amount of time each day by looking at single web pages promoting a variety of different products and services. After viewing the site for between 6 and 30 seconds (depending on which TE you are using) you are usually asked to click on a symbol to verify you’ve viewed the page before being able to move on to the next. Once you’ve done this you are awarded credits, which can later be exchanged for guaranteed visits to your own site. Most sites offer bonuses providing you surf a set number of pages in any one session. The more you surf - the more bonuses you will get.
How not to use a Traffic Exchange
The first point you need to take into consideration is that most people surfing the traffic exchanges are sellers not buyers, who are clicking furiously from one page to the next in order to earn credits. Although they do need to have one eye on the ball, generally speaking they are surfing the TEs for their own gain, not to find out what you or any other members have to offer.
It is precisely for this reason that you will be completely wasting your time if you use an information loaded affiliate page to promote your product in any of the TEs.
Many Traffic Exchanges strictly forbid the promotion of certain genres of sites, such as pornography, gambling and High Yield Investment Programs. Don’t bother wasting any time trying to find ways around this, because you could end up being banned altogether.
Always use a splash page
You have a 10 second window to grab the attention of your fellow exchange surfers, so it is really important that you use a short, sweet ”splash” page which they can’t fail to sit up and notice. You’re not trying to sell your product, you’re simply trying to tempt your visitor with your splash page - so make sure you have some mechanism in place to capture their name and e mail address so you can follow up at a later stage. If you can create your own splash page, this is by far the best option. [Don’t worry if you haven’t got a web site or any web design skills, because there are several free programs you can join which do all the hard work for you. Full information about how to create an eye grabbing splash page can be found on the how to make your own splash page section of this site.]
Alternatively, if you are promoting a downline building program you will be given your own pre-designed splash page coded with your affiliate links, with an inbuilt autoresponder ready to capture the names and e mail addresses of anyone who joins under you. As soon as a new referral joins through your link the program admin automatically sends you their name and e mail address so you can build a list of referrals and follow up with them manually.
All of the individual PTC sites have their own predesigned splash pages, but my advice is not to use these in Traffic Exchanges. If you are going to promote PTC sites using the site’s own custom built splash page, you are much more likely to get results advertising at PTC sites. Another point to note is that even if you are lucky enough to attract a referral through advertising a PTC site splash page in the Traffic Exchanges, you will in most cases not be given their e mail address, so you have no means of offering them help or sharing other opportunities with them.
Use tabbed browsing to speed up your surfing sessions
Although it does yield results, Traffic Exchange surfing can be a long and tedious task. You will, however dramatically reduce the amount of time you need to spend surfing for credits if you surf multiple exchanges side by side.
To do this you will need to use what is known as tabbed browsing.
It is possible to use tabs within Internet Explorer but I’ve found the process to be much easier using Mozilla Firefox. It’s free to install, safe and reliable and you can download it quickly from this link: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/
If you don’t already know how to set up and use tabbed browsing, full instructions can be found at Step 4 of my step by step guide on this website. The instructions provided in this guide assume you are using the Firefox browser.
By using tabbed browsing, you will comfortably be able to surf all five of the recommended Traffic Exchanges below in one session. To give you a rough idea, one hour of surfing = approximately 750 views of your website across all five exchanges (possibly more depending on how many bonus credits you get along the way).
How many Traffic Exchanges should you join?
I’ve read many e books and articles which tell you that you need to join as many Traffic Exchanges as possible if you want to see any sort of results. However... I’m going to totally contradict this theory (and I’m speaking from experience) and tell you that where TEs are concerned the key word is quality not quantity. There are hundreds of exchanges out there but some of them are as good as useless and you could waste hours of your precious time surfing for virtually no return if you choose the wrong exchange and you don’t follow a few simple rules.
Personally, I split all of my traffic exchange surfing time between less than 10 programs. Believe me it works far better than spending hour after hour trying to keep a presence at 30 exchanges.
Which are the best Traffic Exchanges?
There are hundreds of Traffic Exchanges out there, but only a fraction of these deliver real results. Some offer you a 1-1 surfing ratio whilst others only offer 5-1. Some offer bonus credits providing you surf a minimum number of pages, but the amount you are awarded varies greatly. Almost all offer upgraded memberships and the ability to purchase credits if you don’t want to spend hours surfing.
When choosing which TE to join, you should be looking for exchanges that reward free members with extra credits every time they sign up a new free member and who give additional credits based on how many pages each referral surfs. This can potentially add up to hundreds of extra credits banked in your account every week... credits which you do not have to spend a minute surfing for. All of the seven exchanges I am recommending to you below offer these bonuses and more, plus they consistently deliver results.
Its a good idea to forward your affiliate links for any Traffic Exchange you join to all of your new PTC referrals. If they sign up and start surfing for credits, you will directly benefit. Time is money after all.
